Quality Policy

Belmet Marine (Pty) Ltd is a diversified steel fabricator operating in the oil and gas, diamond mining, mineral processing and marine industries, in both local and international markets. We are committed to ultimate customer satisfaction by providing the highest standard of quality in all our fabrication and project management operations.

This will be achieved with the following:

  • We will research and understand customer needs and expectations and communicate this throughout the company.
  • We will measure customer satisfaction and act on the results.
  • We will establish a clear vision of the organisations future, set goals and targets and share this with employees and stakeholders.
  • We will inspire, encourage and recognise employees’ contributions.
  • We will always remember that people at all levels are the essence of our organisation and their full involvement will ensure motivated, committed employees with innovation, creativity, accountability that are eager to participate.
  • We will review our quality management system, at planned intervals, to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
  • We will ensure that our personnel are competent on basis of appropriate education, training, skills and experience.
  • We will provide the infrastructure, resources and work environment needed to achieve conformity to product requirements.
  • We will ensure to provide a safe work environment for all our employees
  • We will conduct internal audits at planned intervals to determine whether the quality management system conforms to the requirements of the ISO 9001: 2008 standard.
  • We will strive to continually improve the effectiveness of our quality management system through the use of corrective actions, preventative actions and opportunities for improvement.
  • We will evaluate our suppliers to ensure they comply with our requirements and to ensure we maintain mutual beneficial supplier relationships.
  • We will ensure that this policy is communicated and understood by all employees of Belmet Marine (Pty) Ltd.


 

Occupational Health & Safety Policy

At Belmet, we are committed to a system of health and safety management, based on a common understanding of risks and how to control them. We recognise that health and safety is a management responsibility of equal importance to Belmet’s work and that effective control of health and safety is achieved through co-operative effort, at all levels within the organisation. We want to prevent accidents and illness by making sure that health and safety considerations are at the heart of everything we do. In complying with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Belmet will, amongst other things:

  • Maintain all places of work under our control in a condition that is safe and without risk to health, this will include the provision and maintenance of adequate means of access to and exit from the premises;
  • Provide and maintain a working environment for our employees that is safe and without risk to health – adequate facilities and arrangements for securing the welfare of employees will be provided;
  • Provide information, instruction, supervision and training, as is necessary, to ensure the health and safety at work of our employees;
  • Provide, operate and maintain buildings, plant, machinery, equipment and systems of work that are safe and without risk to health;
  • Make arrangements for ensuring the safety and absence of risk to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances for use at work;
  • Provide protective clothing and safety equipment, as is necessary, to enable staff to undertake their duties safely;
    Ensure that our employees at work on other companies’ premises, as part of their normal work duties, are trained in the recognition of likely risks which they may encounter;
  • Continuously improve our performance in the field of health and safety, through the setting of clear and achievable goals.

These duties will be performed by Belmet; so far as is reasonably practicable, and the success of this policy relies on everyone being actively involved. We all have a valuable role to play in showing that good health and safety at work is good business.

This statement is a formal and unique declaration that we will devote sufficient effort and resource to the organisation, so that we can continue to build on the ideals and principles that have distinguished Belmet as a leading fabricator in the Western Cape.
